Hi, do you have a box of tissues near you? Have you taken some deep breaths today? Are you sure you're emotionally over Normal People yet? ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I started this book with great anticipation however, I came away from it angry for the following reasons: 1) it blathers on gratuitously. ![]() It's an adventure of breathtaking magnitude as the most common and fallible of human characters must embrace the unconquerable light of heaven and defeat the raging forces of evil to save their loved ones, themselves, and the fragile fabric of the universe! Maybe a shocking mix up could have ignited some sizzle …. Of course it was great to see other old friends pop in even if their exchanges with Brie were subtle. It’s become ‘out of character’ for him to act like that. The only sizzle that came out of nowhere was a quickie before the parents arrived and that shocked me that Sir did that. I understand that characters grow and evolve … but these two are turning into a typical suburban couple. ![]() Sir ( as much as it pains me to admit ) has gone soft and the sexy Dom has clearly gone holidaying in Ibiza !! Even his way with words is starting to get □, and therefore Bries character is changing too. What used to be a spicy series that you read in the privacy of your home where you could squeeze your thighs together, now can be read on a crowded train knowing people are looking over your shoulder. Which is perfectly fine considering how many books have made the series and what an amazing journey we’ve all been on with Brie. I don’t know if the author is realising there’s not too much left in this series going forward …. It pains me to only give this 3 stars, but I have to be truthful. This is what the last book promised ….I still have my breath and what fireworks !!!!! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Maggie is left to her own imagination while her brother, unwillingly goes to school, something that Maggie dreams of doing. It is very clear to the audience from the beginning and Maggie is a very smart woman, she loves to read and learn, but it is quickly stifled by her father, telling her she shouldn’t be reading books. This story is about the oppression of Maggies imagination, intelligence and agency as a woman living in a small town. This adaption is much the same as the book, it is set in 19th century England, and it spans across 10-15 years of Maggies life starting when Maggie was 9 years old. Optic Nerves adaption of Mill on the Floss was a theatrical re-telling of the story of Maggie Tulliver. Mill on the Floss is a theatrical adaptation by Optic Nerve of the 1860 novel of the same name written by Mary Ann Evans under the pseudonym George Eliot. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Winner of the 2019 Locus Award for Best Art Book Winner of the 2019 Hugo Award for Best Art Book The Books of Earthsea was published in 2018 by Saga Press. As this series was written after - but set before - Revelations, there is plenty of foreshadowing for events to come and little bits and pieces of information for those who’ve already read the series. Personally, I have already read Revelations and could pick up a few Easter Eggs here and there alluding to what would come to pass in the future. I imagine there are different levels of knowledge about Riyria’s world and setting, depending on whether we’ve read the original series or not. ![]() It tells the story of how Riyria’s favourite (and only) members, Hadrian Blackwater and Royce Melborn, became partners in crime. As the first book of Riyria Chronicles, the prequel series to The Riyria Revelations, The Crown Tower is one of the many entry points to Michael J. The Crown Tower was a fantastic book, and Tim Gerald Reynolds does a great job narrating it. ![]() ![]() ![]() Other heterodox approaches to the Trinity are discussed, including modalism (God is one person with three expressions of Himself, like three roles) and polytheism (“a gaggle of Gods”), and why these are less logically compelling than the standard three-person trinitarian view. Later in discussion of the Fatherhood of God, the author develops his critique of the Islamic view of God and the negative implications of such an approach. In comparison to Islam, he explains that the Biblical call to the oneness of God (“Listen, Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is One.” Deuteronomy 6:4) is not a call to “mathematical singularity.” He helpfully points out the Hebrew word for “one” in this passage is the same used in Genesis 2:24 to describe the oneness of Adam and Eve, another relational singularity. In the first chapters, Reeves introduces the Trinity as a unique Christian approach that significantly differentiates it from all other religions. ![]() |
